Dutch National Bank Approves AMDAX B.V, first crypto service under AMLD5 regulations

The Netherlands imposes strict regulations with regard to EU anti-money laundering laws. However, recently, the central bank of the Netherlands, De Nederlandsche Bank NV (DNB) finally grants permission to AMDAX BV to function under this jurisdiction.

The government authorities approve AMDAX BV, an Amsterdam-based digital company that gave a sigh of relief to the Dutch residents as they can finally access and avail the benefits of this offering.

Interestingly for the first time, a virtual asset company is approved in the nation subject to certain conditions and new regulations. However, earlier many crypto-related businesses have already faced the liquidation and shut down.

The company states “AMDAX BV. Has been registered by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) as the first provider of crypto services in the Netherlands. This enables AMDAX to process crypto transactions and store cryptocurrencies.”

In the month of September 2020, the DNB notified the crypto industries to register themselves with the bank. Noting, January 2020 became the initial point for acceptance of any requests.

The report mention that Fintech firms of the Netherland must follow the European Union laws in trend and also the money laundering laws name as the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

While dealing with AMDAX B.V. one must know the details of it. It is a digital asset platform and commenced in a journey with approval for AMLD5 in May. The conduct of business activities with AMDAX is subject to certain laws and government regulations. These includes:

  • Anti-money Laundering laws/ Counter-Terrorism Financing laws
  • European and Dutch money transmission laws
  • Dutch laws, rules, regulations of tax authorities.

Individuals or institutions that open an account must comply with the CAP/AML Program to be the valid ADMAX customers. After signing in, one automatically agree to the terms and conditions of AMDAX B.V.

AMDAX BV mention in its statement that “All cryptocurrencies need to get this registration. Without it, they cannot operate in the Netherlands. The other Dutch crypto companies have up to November 21st to receive registration.”

The decision of the Netherland is worth appreciating as the crypto industry has evolved tremendously till now. The approval of ADMAX. B.V. for Dutch residents is new hope for conducting business operations and transactions digitally.
